Job Responsibility
- To look for potential customers, build relationship with customer to bring in profitable sales to the company
- Oversee a Business Development Department including Merchandising, PQI, PD and Sourcing functions
- Ensure order profitability, by managing his/her team to purchase the right material quality at the right price and delivery on time for production
- To constantly sourcing for new material supplier that can provide better service, on time delivery, product quality and price
- Host customer and VIP visits to our facilities
Job Duties
Marketing
- To identify and secure potential customers, through studying of buyer’s branding, product types, buying volume, financial standing
- To have a complete understanding of the company’s capabilities and capacities
- To understand the competitive landscape
- To know customer key decision makers
- To initiate and develop business relationship with potential buyers, promoting the company services, product capabilities and capacities
- To negotiate with buyer and agree on business contract terms and conditions, especially on credit payment terms, which will require clearance from finance department
- To present potential buyer product types and buying volume to management team, work with management team to identify the product type to focus on, set the business and production strategy plan
- To perform in delivering quality product and on time shipment, keep a respectable relationship with buyer and works toward being a buyer's strategic partner
- To work with company head of Factory Planning & Social compliance to make arrangement with buyer's or 3rd party social compliance team to conduct factory social compliance and technical audit approval
- To become well versed in the latest fashion trends, by viewing fashion TV shows, researching Internet, magazines, conducting overseas market surveys and consultation with our design team
- To introduce newest materials, embellishment techniques, wet /dry process and product design to buyer
Business Enquiry:
- To understand the customer's sampling process, testing requirement and its cost
- To know the cost of latest materials, embellishment, wet /dry process trends
- To receive order inquiries from customer, research on customer's retail price, and IMU (obtained from customer dialogue and from customer’s website)
- To ensure timely responses to customer's inquiry, with a logical and profitable preliminary quotation
- To ensure the assigned Merchandising team obtains technical package from customers to carry out costing by sourcing for material’s cost and request bill of materials (BOM), product cycle time (SMV) and sample from PD including cost down options via alternative construction and technical advice
- To be equipped with product, material and construction knowledge to make suggestive changes to meet buyer’s target purchase price
Product Development Sampling Process:
- To choose the product type that best suits our factory capabilities
- To secure T & A and material supplier's information to the assigned Merchandising team
- To provide good quality samples with correct patterns at the right time and right cost
- To ensure Operation Breakdowns are feasible and the most economic solution reducing SMV and overall product cost
- To ensure material consumptions are accurate and timely uploaded
- To find new production methods reducing product cost such as machines, jigs and methods
- To finalize manufacturing instructions and handover package on time
Order Confirmation (SOC) :
- To work with Merchandising create SOC with order details such as itemize material cost, SMV, CM Cost, Transportation cost, picture, generate company number and send to COO for approval in ERP
- To ensure, verify and be accountable for the data input correctness in ERP for all assigned teams
- To monitor shipment status, troubleshoot possible risks and manage risks with customer when needed
- To assign and delegate work to the Merchandiser Manager and team to take ownership and follow up on confirmed orders
- Set customer “Time & Action Calendar (T&A)” template in ERP for the team to follow up on orders.
Material Approval & Purchase:
- To source for latest materials, embellishment, processing trend cost
- To certify material planning to auto create purchase orders (MPO) by checking BOM-fabric consumption, mini marker, fabric specification and unit price for correctness in ERP before COO approval
- To approve trims and packaging materials planning to auto create accessory purchase orders (APO) by checking accessory consumption, specification and unit price for correctness in ERP
- To look into cost comparison for profitability, keep purchase budget within or less than the 1st Sales confirmation (SOC), call-out in ERP on any cost out of budget to inform and work with Top Management for a direction
- To solve major material issues and ensure material on-time delivery for timely production start
Product Quality and Integrity (PQI):
- To oversee PQI team (QAs, Lab and AQL)
- To understand and drive customer quality standards
- To understand quality risks and give guidance to team about acceptable quality levels
- To work with customer on major quality issues and resolve in good manner protecting customer partnership and profitability
- To resolve escalated material issues with customer and suppliers in good manner protecting company’s interest
Job Requirement
- University Degree major in Business Administration, Marketing/Finance or other related disciplines or Diploma or courses in Fashion or Apparel related field
- Passionate in the bag industry and with at least 15 years’ of relevant work experience
- A strong communicator with excellent spoken and written English, Chinese (Mandarin) is advantage
- Good interpersonal and communication skill
- Strong management, planning & organization skills, able to multi-task in fast paced environment and work under tight deadlines
- Strong business sense, negotiation, persuasive skill, capable to deal with overseas buyers / factories independently
- Highly motivated, self-initiated, customer-oriented, willing to achieve objectives with clear vision
- Presentable, responsible, result-oriented and a good team player
- Mature, hardworking, energetic, outgoing and able to work independently
- Possess strong good team player and interpersonal skills
- Have a strong sense of urgency, immediately report with options and resolution
- Strong clients and partnership network across region, retail/buyer connections would be highly valued
- Identify new business, utilizing new and established networks of personal and business
- Business travelling is required
